The morning talks will come back on what we call the “Magiciens effect”, opening with a testimonial against the global space of art. Dedicated to analyzing and challenging the current geography of art, the exchange will act as a prelude to a prospective and propositional moment.

Between totality and fragmentation
In the wake of the fragmented narratives and the possible art histories that proliferated under decolonial and postcolonial studies, new totalizing narratives are emerging today: from global art history to Bruno Latour’s concept of the Anthropocene and the pragmatic universal (now largely mobilized by the art world) or, prior to that, Fredric Jameson’s appeal to recreate totality. The afternoon will be devoted to examining this dichotomy, this paradox that innervate the global art space, and to putting forth ideas for an alternative geography of art.
