The Accelerationist Trial

Centre Pompidou
1st december 2014

7pm, Petite salle
Free entrance

In 2013, Alex Williams and Nick Srníček published the “Manifesto for an Accelerationist Politics”, flying in the face of degrowth programs by calling on environmentalists to accelerate capitalism, technological progress and the automatization of productive forces. Widely discussed in Berlin, New York and London, this controversial manifesto has been translated into French for the first time by the journal Multitudes. Philosophers, historians and economists will gather around its authors and publicly examine the text, adopting original critical devices, in order to question its environmental, political and economic efficiency.

With Alex Williams, Nick Srnicek (political theorists), Fabien Giraud (artist, he’ll open the evening by a lecture called “How to fuel a stellar thruster with dismantled fear?”),Yann Moulier-Boutang (philosopher, economist, director of the review Multitudes), Yves Citton(media archeologist, co-director of the review Multitudes, University of Grenoble),Nicolas Vieillescazes (philosopher, editor at Les Prairies Ordinaires), Sophie Wahnich (historian, head of research at the CNRS), Aliocha Imhoff & Kantuta Quiros (curators, theorist).

A collaboration between the review Multitudes and the curatorial platform le peuple qui manque.
